Challenge Myself: Painting When The Kids Around

Back in the college, watercolor painting was a sacred activity. It was a therapy, meditation, requires concentration & specific mood.

But now, is it possible for me to do it with 1 baby, 1 toddler & 1 kid around? Today, I challenge myself.

Option 1: Distracting the distraction

Much easier if I play movies & let the children watch it while I'm painting. But that's not the point. I don't want to create a virtual sphere with me inside & my family outside. And yet, children tend to get curious to the adult's activities, especially art & craft activities. I don't want to ignore their curiousity.

Option 2: Joining the distraction

I challenge myself by opening the door of my virtual sphere & let the children come inside & join me painting. We're painting in the living room, on a dinner table. We're sharing the paints & colors. The main distraction is coming from our 1,5 years old Neo. He really wants to join the fun with his sisters & dads. Sorry Neo, only milk & cookies for you this time. When you're a bit older, you can join the club!

It's fun actually. Though I need to give it a litte more time to get used to it. Of course, it depends on the project. The simple the better.
And this is different from what I did in the college, because being family man itself is a new art.
